Once I started Burnt Toast Kitchen NYC, people would be asked me about my business and what I did. My elevator pitch is Burnt Toast Kitchen NYC is a vegetable focused personal chef, classes and small events business to help busy New Yorkers eat better by cooking for them or teaching them how. I would get puzzled faces, with the question, oh catering?

Nope. not catering. As a personal chef, I can come to your home to cook meals for you. I work on the menu with you to determine what you like, what you don’t like, how many meals you would like, make the shopping list, go shopping, bring the food to your home (or have it delivered) prep and cook the food, pack it (family style (one big container ) or individual portion style) with instructions on reheating, and clean up. You’re left with food prepared to your liking and you just have to choose what you want to eat and heat. This saves you time and you can focus on other things like spending time with your partner or kids or take up a hobby!

If you’re not keen on someone being in your kitchen, no problem! I can cook for you in an offsite kitchen and deliver it to you.
Why would you want a personal chef? Many reasons!
You are a couple with kids and are finding it hard to get everything done. Meal planning/preparation is the last thing you have time to do.
You’re a new vegetarian/vegan and want to get a jump start on your new diet
You are a busy New Yorker and don’t want to cook
You hate to cook
You want to cut back on meat and want a few meatless meals for the week
You’re a new mom and are overwhelmed and need someone to take care of you for a change

How much do services cost? It does depend on how many meals, but it starts at $400/week plus food. Here are a few articles which detail price breakdown more detailed than I do here and here. What’s great about me preparing your meals instead of say a meal kit service like Purple Carrot? No horrible amounts of packaging including those blobby freezer things wind up in the landfill. I can make meals that you can freeze and heat later or just enough for the night or week.
My style is delicioud spice-driven, global vegetable-based food (ie.vegan and vegetarian). As a vegetarian for more almost 34 years, I’ve eaten really bad, tasteless and uncreative food. Vegetarian and vegan food can be tasty and interesting. I want to bring that to my clients. Have an allergy, I can address it.

A personal chef is not for everyone. I get that. That's why I do one-one-one and group classes. I can do small classes in your home or where I usually hold my group classes, the beautiful Purple Kale Kitchen Works in Sunset Park.

You can learn what you’re interested in and expand your knowledge. Here’s my class listing until the end of April. My next class is Tuesday, focusing on simple vegetable based stocks and soups. To buy tickets, click HERE

If you don’t see something here, let me know and I can add it. I’ve done quick vegan dinners and a vegan proteins class as well As I always say the world is your oyster mushroom!

I’m looking forward to working with you!
